Mission accomplished! DL M&E is delighted to have fundraised £1087 for Fortalice Ltd (inc. gift aid) following a fantastic charity day out with Team DL and Fortalice supporters walking Winter Hill and Rivington Pike.
A huge thanks to all the kind and generous donors and Team DL for their time and money put towards this very worthy charity that supports those affected by domestic abuse and violence. It will go towards helping people put their lives back together after life-changing and sometimes very traumatic events.
We wish Fortalice the very best as they continue to support the vulnerable in our local community.
It was a rousing performance from our sponsored rugby team Westhoughton Lions Rugby League who roared to victory at the weekend, their A Team beating Higginshaw 46-14. DL M&E is delighted again this year to sponsor this outstanding rugby league club, which has superb outreach to all age groups in the community.
Last weekend was 'Lionfest', which put on BBQ's, stalls, fun games and of course some drinks. It was a big turnout, their extra support contributing to the home advantage win. It was fantastic to see local businesses pull together to help the club develop and grow, strengthening the community on our doorstep and providing essential sporting opportunities.
We wish the Westhoughton Lions all the best for the ongoing season.
We enjoy giving young persons from our local community the opportunity to gain work experience with DL M&E. Here’s a short Q&E with someone age 15 that just completed a week with us (Photo and interview arranged with permission):
Q) Just a few questions about your work experience with DL M&E! How is it that you came to do your work experience?
A) It was arranged through my school at Bedford High.
Q) What made you want to come here – was it because you are specifically interested in building services?
A) Yeah, I'm interested because my brother did mechanical engineering in university, so I thought I’d see how it is. My brother inspired me to see what it’s all about.
Q) What did you think of your time here with DL? Did you enjoy your time?
A) Yeah, I enjoyed it!
Q) What did you learn most about your time here?
A) I learnt how to sort out files, spreadsheets, scanning and all that. I also talked to a few project managers, who suggested an apprenticeship is the best route into the M&E industry, especially if I wanted to work on the tools initially. I learnt how building services work.
Q) From your experience here and how it works, would you think about a career in construction?
A) Yeah, through an apprenticeship hopefully.
Q) How would you sum up your time here, with DL?
A) I thought it's just nice and easy. It's fun. Friendly staff are kind.
We wish our work experience learner the very best as a potential future Mechanical Engineer!
