This month we held an Apprenticeship Day, bringing together from across the country all eight of our apprentices – ranging from Year 1 to Year 3. We created this video of our Apprentices sharing their experience to encourage those thinking of doing an apprenticeship to come into construction and help them get a feel for what it’s really like to be in the construction environment. The video also conveys to the industry the importance of taking on board new apprentices in the face of weak apprenticeship numbers in the UK and an aging construction workforce.

It was a fantastic day with our apprentices, our directors taking the opportunity to sit down with them and talk about their wellbeing and progress. We conducted a group feedback session using the collaborative app Mentimeter for an interactive live survey and discussion on important issues raised. We covered personal safety, mental health, work satisfaction, relationships on site and much more. Nurturing this group and individual engagement helped us understand as a company how well we are meeting the needs of our apprentices and what we can do to improve their overall experience and development.
