The brilliant idea of a ‘Guinness Cake’ received DL M&E’s most office votes for our Bake Off winner this year in support of Macmillan Cancer Support. How do you make Guinness cake? Apparently you replace milk with Guinness and hey presto! With Guinness coloured sponge topped with white cream, it had both the taste and look of Guinness so a well deserved winner!
We are delighted to have raised £311 this year, which we trust when joined with the many other participants around the country will help support those affected by cancer.
Competition was high with some tremendous efforts by DL’s talented bakers with generous contributions by some fakers! Dress down Friday made for a great day to enjoy the many cakes and pies on offer! Our thanks goes to all our team that got involved and donated to this important cause.

Young hearts and minds were reached in November at Winstanley College Career Fair, where we represented engineering and construction and opened up potentially sliding door conversations, highlighting especially the apprenticeship opportunities.
It was particularly good to see more young women wanting to seriously talk to us about careers in the electrical trade and quantity surveying, which we hope one day fosters greater equality in our industry, removing some of the industry’s stigmas regarding gender roles.
Being an M&E fit out company we even attracted those interested in commercial Interior Design, so we could direct young people to the roles fulfilled by our fit out clients, demonstrating how the construction industry is interconnected. Our clients offer superb Interior Design and it was great to share their website details to young people who want to explore this world that for most is yet unknown.
The construction industry is huge and there is enormous opportunity to work together to better promote the outstanding careers available. Here at DL we are committed to playing our part to provide the sign posting many young people need, releasing their energy and skills into our industry of opportunity and change. Let’s keep inspiring the next generation!

What a fantastic response we’ve had to our annual Cash for Kids Greater Manchester Mission Christmas toys appeal this year, which sees less privileged children get something special for their big day. It gives a smile to struggling parents and a moment of joy to children, sending a message of much needed care and hope to those in difficult circumstances.
A huge thank you to all our generous, kind suppliers and our own brilliant DL team for embracing the festive spirit and this special cause. It’s been a superb team effort, with suppliers and team arriving with bags and boxes of toys from scooters and skateboards to games and fluffy animals!
It’s DL’s privilege for the team to pull together and place everything donated under our tree, showcasing how every individual contribution helps a child – it’s wonderful to see our business community pull together for such a worthy cause. There’s no better feeling than boxing the toys up again, loading the van and sending them onwards for distribution to their final destination – a child that might have nothing else this Christmas. Thank you everyone for giving a child a proper Christmas experience!

Christmas Jumper day brought out more festive spirit, and for Children in Need the DL team raised a further £370, which is simply brilliant. Thanks to all!
As well as the big annual DL Christmas party, there is another office tradition: The DL girls get together for their very own Secret Santa mini office party – each enjoying their marshmallow loaded hot chocolate, the group photo turned into an unintended DL branding event!

Here we have our DL sponsored Inter Cheadle East under 11’s in their new kits for the 25/26 season. Now playing at nine-a side with new rules, new recruits and new venues around the Stockport area. The boys have got off to a flying start, winning 8 out of their first 9 games but more importantly creating a fantastic team spirit and enjoying their football. We wish them all the best throughout the season and continued success.
