DL M&E undertook the mechanical and electrical design to RIBA stage 4 for the modifications to the LV distribution system
Project Profile – LBG Pendeford
Lloyds Banking is a financial services group, who retain millions of UK customers and have a high street presence throughout the country. This corporate banking facility located in Pendeford required a new UPS system to be installed to provide N+1 resilience to the IT equipment throughout the building, and DL were requested to be involved in this project.
DL M&E undertook the mechanical and electrical design to RIBA stage 4 for the modifications to the LV distribution system, to enable the 300kVA N+1 UPS system to be installed. In order to support the full building IT load, the existing rising busbar supplies were disconnected from the main LV panel and rerouted via a new UPS supported section board.
In order to house the new UPS systems within the building, a new room was formed, along with new air-conditioning systems and extract ventilation. As the area allocated to the new UPS system was quite small, careful planning with the main contractor and the UPS supplier was required, to ensure all the equipment could fit into the restricted space. Complex modifications had to be undertaken to the main LV panel to enable the new UPS system’s cabling to be installed into the main LV panel. All systems were integrated to the building BMS system to enable ongoing monitoring of the critical UPS system.
