Project Profile – Bristol Trinity Quay Boiler Replacements
As part of the ongoing refurbishment we are taking part in at Bristol Trinity Quay, the three existing boilers required replacing and modifying. Due to age and general wear and tear, the boilers had become corroded and the ventilation, which was as originally installed, also required refurbishment and cleaning.
Although many of the existing boiler materials were retained where appropriate, the two immersion heaters required new supplies, containment and spurs. The heating pipework was replaced as per the existing with the addition of distribution headers for the boilers. Further modifications have been made to the primary header arrangement whereby new isolation valves with capped connection have been installed for future proofing applications.
The existing boilers were successfully replaced with sectional boilers, each complete with new gas burners. Each hot water cylinder has also been provided with an electric immersion heater as a secondary heat source.
The ventilation was refreshed, and all isolated pieces of equipment were reconnected, renewing the usability of the plant.
The newly installed boilers now provide the required demand to satisfy the building’s heating and domestic hot water requirements.
