DL M&E Building Services were engaged by a National Banking Group to develop the UPS critical resilience design
Project Profile – National Bank
Lloyds Banking is a financial services group, who retain millions of UK customers and have a high street presence throughout the country. DL M&E Building Services were engaged by a National Banking Group to develop the UPS critical resilience design to RIBA Stage 4 for their corporate premises, located in Cheadle.
The existing UPS Systems were coming to end of life and were oversized for the requirements of the building. DL M&E Building Services undertook a full intrusive survey and validation of the corporate office. During the survey, loads that needed to be supported by the new UPS system were determined, and the information required to develop the electrical design in line with the new requirements was established.
DL M&E Building Services installed a new 40 kVA N+1 Kohler UPS system. The electrical submains were replaced, and new distribution boards were installed to the tech rooms, along with new IT cabinet electrical supplies, providing additional resilience to the IT infrastructure. The works were undertaken whilst keeping the existing UPS system in operation, which maintained the resilience to the building. The new UPS system was brought online over a building shutdown weekend. On completion of the changeover, the redundant UPS and electrical systems were removed from the building.
All works were completed out of hours, and no disruption was caused to the building, thanks to a strict and exacting programme put forward and delivered by DL M&E Building Services.
